Kulthau's article on the information search process

I found Carol Kulthau's website:, it appears that the updated version of the article is available at

If you took Rong Tang's 555 class, she has the article posted on blackboard.

I hope this helps.

What to know

In going over notes from classes, it has been stressed to know Carol C. Kuhlthau's information search process. There is a copy of this in the School Library Media Quarterly Fall 1989. Unfortunately, this is not available in full text on line (that I could find anyway).
Also, we should know Raganathan's 5 statements about libraries and CIPA (filtering mandated if taking money from any three pots of government money. (One is e-rate, I will have to check on the other two.)

David Wallace's Archive Recommendations

The link below is a draft document from the international council on archives that describes key electronic records issues.

O Philip Bantin, “Electronic Records Management – A Review of the Work of a Decade and a Reflection on Future Directions,” The Encyclopedia for Library and Information Science, Vol. 71, Supplement 34 (New York: Marcel Dekker)): 47-81.

And for a general text on archives see: James O'Toole "Understanding Archives and Manuscripts" - this is about 10 years old and a new version is just about to be released. But it is good overview of hte archival issues.

"The Future of Cataloging" speech by Deanna Marcum

Hi guys. I figured out what I was doing wrong with the Blog. It should now look like a blog and I also figured out (I think) how to add a link... This is the test.

I don't know why we'd want to but we can add photos too.

Just click on "Link" and you'll be directed to Deanna Marcum's Speech.

Good night!

OCLC Environmental Scan

A couple of my classes suggested looking at the 2003 OCLC Environmental Scan- which I think you can download as a PDF from their site. Another alternative to journal articles.
